A very warm welcome from us all at

Hilton Primary School

If you are looking for a school that will provide a caring and nurturing environment; where your child can grow and flourish, a place where their happiness and safety is our prime concern and where they will have every opportunity to grow socially, emotionally and academically, then HPS is just the learning community you are looking for.

We were judged to be a good school in our most recent inspection and we are striving to become outstanding at the earliest opportunity. We do have very high expectations of our children and work closely with parents, carers and the wider community to ensure their success.

We are a very large school and this means that we have an impressive range of expertise and some amazing resources at our disposal to support children’s learning. We work hard to maintain a village school feel and because all of the children in the village attend HPS, they have a shared set of educational experiences, a common set of values and a real sense of pride in our school and their wider community.

Children are encouraged to become super star learners and to take on a wide range of additional responsibilities as they pass through the school. We have a house system that provides a real sense of belonging, promotes teamwork and supports children’s social and emotional development. We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities and enrich our curriculum through a wide variety of spiritual, cultural and social experiences.

Our aim is to find every child’s talent; to instil in them a real passion for learning and to equip them with the skills, knowledge and understanding that will ensure success in the next stage of their life-long learning journey.

Please do come and see us at work; I know that once you have seen the vibrant classrooms, passionate teachers, enthusiastic learners and amazing facilities you’ll be keen to secure a place for your child!

Reminder - Children who have had vomiting and /or diarrhea must not return to school until 48 hours after the last symptom.

As you are aware, safeguarding is given the highest priority at Hilton. There may be times when adults are concerned about children in the community. If so, then you can contact Derbyshire County Council's Child Protection department (Starting Point) on 01629 533190
